Better Homes & Gardens September 2014

Better Homes & Gardens September issue just hit newsstands…

I was invited to Des Moines, Iowa to visit the creative team at BHG and discuss my “Global Collected” look — I can’t tell you how much fun we had!   What I can say is that although this is known as a fly-over country, Des Moines is the cutest town where I was surprised to drive past modern architectural gems sited amongst quaint older buildings.  Most impressive, however were the folks I worked with who were most welcoming, creative and hard working.

They asked me to illustrate for readers how to create their own travelled look at home.  So, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share some ideas. The results are pretty colorful, but I think they still seem warm and inviting.

As inspiration, we used the daybed I created for the home of my dear friend & client Lori — which just happens to be one of my favorite projects ever.  Check out the story and let me know what you think.

I also want to send a warm shout out to the lovely production team I worked with:  Amy, Shelley, Allison, Sonja, Jill, Phil and King.  Thank you all for making this feature such a fun experience and greeting me with your midwestern hospitality!  Hope to get back out there soon — aiming for the Iowa State Fair or Bacon Fest–if I can score what I’ve learned is a hot ticket.  Cheers.
